See answer: Low urine output and decreased frequency of urination over a 4 day period either indicative of: dehydration from inadequate intake or excessive losses of fluids (vomiting, diarrhea, heavy exercise, dark urine, etc) or acute renal failure in which case one would expect your wife to be quite sick by now. If she had been truly drinking 3-5 l/day these past few days, something doesn't fit.
