Possibly: Blood pregnancy tests usually turn positive about 10-12 days after fertilization/ovulation right after implantation which is often just before or around the time of a scheduled period to occur. The urine or home pregnancy tests usually turn positive about 3-7 days after that. Early signs of pregnancy: spotting/cramping, bloating, breast tenderness, nausea, fatigue may occur shortly after that.

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Probably not: If the pregnancy test is negative, you are not pregnant. The spotting is most likely your period. If unsure, repeat the pregnancy test.
