See answer : Sorry to hear about your problem. Pilonidal cysts can be a chronic, recurring, frustrating problem: often requiring several procedures and sometimes prolonged wound care to finally eradicate. From description, it sounds as if the abscess has spontaneously ruptured and is draining. If so, a visit to the er may not be needed. If pain is tolerable and not febrile and sick, would contact surgeon in am.
