Allergy: Sounds like she had an allergy to the dye. Taking the Allegra (fexofenadine) may have helped decrease the symptoms. You need to let the doctor know she may have an allergy to contrast dye, so it can be documented in her chart for any future issues, and in the case she would ever need dye again, she could be treated prophylactically with medication before the procedure, etc. If symptoms return, also call the dr.

Improving: If her symptoms are improving on Allegra (fexofenadine) there should be no permanent harm. It is important that you report this allergic reaction to the radiology department and to your physician so that this contrast agent will not be used on you in the future. In addition see to it that this allergy is listed in your records.
