Depression and death: Absolutely. People who are severely depressed are at a higher mortality rate. Indirectly, through physical illness or lack of attention to health factors; or directly, e.g. Suicide or neglect of basic needs for survival. Pay attention to experiences of prolonged sadness or unresolved grief and consult a mental health professional. Depression is a very treatable condition.
