See below: Flank pain if definitely coming from kidneys occurs in 2 conditions commonly which are infection called pyelonephritis, and kidney stones, if present in both kidneys.A rare cause of flank pain from kidneys is flank pain hematuria syndrome, ie accompanied by passage of blood caused by a condition called IgA nephropathy.
