Your doctor: A high anion gap and muscle pain could indicate some lactic acidosis. Certain medication, over exercise, dehydration, or muscle disease are only a few causes. There are lots of different reasons for metabolic acidosis. This is something to pursue with your doctor as it sounds like further work-up is necessary.
