Progesterone: The corpus luteum is a cyst in the ovary that forms after release of an egg and produces Progesterone hormones. This hormone causes a slight increase in basal body temperature, helps to make the lining of the uterus receptive to an embryo, but may contribute to some pms symptoms like bloating or breast tenderness. If no pregnancy occurs, the cyst & Progesterone decline and a period starts.
