A member asked:

I've never had chicken pox, wanting to get the chicken pox vaccination. what are the risks? deadly? how do i know if i'm allergic to gelatin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not deadly!: The chickenpox vac is much safer than getting the disease. Most people who get the vac do not have any problems. As with any vaccine, there is a very small chance of having a side effect. Serious side effects are very rare (seizures-brain rxn). They are usually more likely to occur after the 1st dose than after the 2nd one (yes 2 doses are rec). If your rxn to gelatin-is anaphylaxis-no vaccine!
