Swelling and pain: Broken bones in the feet are pretty common. Usually a trauma occurs, then pain, sweling, occasionally bruising. Broken feet, (26 bones) often don't get medical attention. After six to eight weeks the symptoms get better. However an x-ray is most helpful, shows the foot fracture, determines care and is a baseline for proper healing. Don't ignore your feet.

Bone pain & swelling: Broken bones can be painful when touched or deformed by forces such as bearing weight until early healing or appropriate immobilization/splinting is employed. Not all fractures show up on initial x-rays. Advanced imaging modalities (mri or ct scan) may be indicated to make the diagnosis. Swelling localized to the zone of injury or fracture is a clinical hallmark the is routinely present.

Get an x-ray: Pain, swelling, bruising and angulation deformities are signs of a possible fractured toe. See a professional to have x-rays taken so that you can get the proper care if it is fractured.
