Not really : Bleeding the first 1-6 weeks after Mirena (levonorgestrel) is common but it should not be heavy with clots. Maybe an endometrial ablation would be a better option if this does not work in the next few cycles.

Possibly: The heavy bleeding and clotting may not be controlled for approximately 4 to 6 weeks thus allowing the iud hormones to start working.
