Urine test strip: One thing you can do is buy urine test strips for sugar and if they test positive, it tells you that your blood sugar is over 180. It will not diagnose milder diabetic conditions however. Normally the fasting blood sugar is 70 to 100. If you have severe thirst from diabetes your blood sugar will be higher than 180 as a rule.
