Unlikely: Urethritis, as characterized by urethral inflammation, can result from infectious and noninfectious conditions. Most common std urethral infections are gonorrhea and chlamydia, both of which can be reliably diagnosed with the appropriate tests (urethral swab culture or pcr urine test) and both of which are usually reliably treated and cured with doxycycline. Despite residual symptoms, cure likely.
