is lasik surgery the same as lens replacement?

Dr. Richard Witlin answered
LASIK Surgery 46 years experience
No : Completely different. Lasik surgery is a laser operation performed on your cornea that removes tissue to re-shape your cornea. Lens replacement is an operation performed in the operating room that removes the natural lens of your eye and replaces it with an artificial lens (lens implant). While both operations can improve your refraction, they work by different mechanisms.
