Treatment failure: Depending on the type of infection you have, symptoms of an illness that will respond to a particular antibiotic usually start to improve within 3-4 days. If your illness is caused by a virus, antibiotics won't help it. If your infection is bacterial, you may need a different medication. Your doctor can guide you on the next step, so be sure to notify the office.
