Complex: The immune system has many arms in fending off outside invades and cancer cells. The innate one is less specific or nonspecific , the acquired ones target specifically an agent. Then there are antibodies, killer cells. cytotoxic lymphocytes, complements etc .Our immune system is akin to our defense department using multiple tools to meet a specific threat. We are in trouble when it fails.
