Canal obstruction: The eye has an internal circulation of clear fluid (aqueous humor) which exits in an area called the trabecular meshwork in front of the root of the iris. In childhood (newborn) glaucoma there is a membrane blocking this outfow causing the pressure to rise and damage vision. Rarely it is inherited but most are accidents of development. See a pediatric ophthalmologist right away for treatment.
