A member asked:

Can smoking really stunt your growth and does it reduce bone development?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes it does: Kids who smoke during their greatest growth spurts in their mid-teens are generally shorter than non-smoking matched controls/family members. It effects some people more than others. It also impairs bone healing. Some surgeons will not do orthopedic procedures electively on smokers, and require them to stop before surgery because bone healing is slowed, and there are more complications.
