Yes!: Think of it this way, when you smoke, carbon monoxide poison gets into your bloodstream through your lungs. Carbon monoxide preferentially displaces oxygen off of your red blood cells. So as your red blood cells travel around to dump off oxygen in the tissues ( including your bones) there is not enough oxygen for your bones to build themselves properly. Smoking poisons your bones!

Yes it does: Kids who smoke during their greatest growth spurts in their mid-teens are generally shorter than non-smoking matched controls/family members. It effects some people more than others. It also impairs bone healing. Some surgeons will not do orthopedic procedures electively on smokers, and require them to stop before surgery because bone healing is slowed, and there are more complications.
