A member asked:

Please help! what is the difference betewen shock and coma in view of pathology?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Homework question: This is basic knowledge. Shock is any situation in which the heart isn't able to get enough good blood around the body to keep it going. Coma is any unconsciousness from which no stimulus will awake the person. As a pathologist, the underying lesions are as diverse as anything in medicine and there's no single finding or simplistic account for either. Both are common in emergency settings.
