A member asked:

What to do with interstitial cystitis or painful bladder syndrome?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IC: Interstitial cystitis is not currently a disorder that can be cured. Most treatments are geared toward symptom reduction. Elmiron (pentosan) is the only FDA approved oral med for IC. It helps some but not all patients. Most need other therapeutic options in addition. See a urologist that treats a lot of patients with IC. They are more likely to offer you a variety of treatment modalities beyond Elmiron (pentosan).
