A member asked:

Why is it that downs syndrome people have exceptionally long tongues, is that a trait in this affliction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It only appears so: Often with down syndrome, patients have an under developed skeletal mid face which gives them less room for the tongue. So it appears bigger relative to the rest of their oral structures and face.
