Can you tell me about drug abuse- why do people use drugs?

No way to answer: This in 400 characters. There are many reasons, but the most common is to treat the mental/psychic pain from prior trauma, usually in early life, often repeated, and physical, emotional or sexual. Some people just like to take risks - "adrenaline junkies" and use drugs for excitement, others to dull physical pain, others because of boredom etc etc. With dependency, people use just not to be sick.
