Why is it that hallucinogens such as lsd cause your pupils to dilate?

Dr. Pamela Pappas answered

Pupil dilation: Hallucinogens like lsd are agonists of the serotonergic 5-ht2a receptors in the brain -- and in this way they can cause pupils to dilate. Serotonergic antidepressants can do this also.
