Why is it that i itch after acupuncture?

I am not : Familiar with itching as a side effect of acupuncture. Is infrared heat being used in conjunction with needles? I use acupuncture to treat people who have hives and itching. The only thing i can think of is renewed activity (blood circulation, qi, nerve conduction) causing the itching. Perhaps one of the other healthtap acupuncturists is more familiar with itching as a side effect.
