See below: Salt, fluids, and pressor agents raise bp. Obesity, stress, nicotine and alcohol abuse will also raise it. Regular exercise, good diet, normal weight and relaxation will lower it. Also: cardiogenic shock, sepsis, tension pneumothorax, cardiac tamponade and acute hemorrhage will lower it. (really lower it!).

Raising BP: Primary hypertension- host-genetic-environmental interaction could cause hypertension. In secondary causes: kidney problems, thyroid problems, adrenal gland problems, birth control pills, decongestant medications, illegal drugs.
