Opioids-Mu receptors: Opioid work on specific receptors in your brain called mu receptors and dull the individuals experience of pain. Nsaids work more by decreasing inflammation. Neuromodulators like Gabapentin work on another neuro-receptor called gaba. Methadone works on mu receptors and nmda receptors. And theres more, so make sure you have the right diagnosis by someone experienced in treating pain.
