A member asked:

What would be the treatment for someone with central posterior protusion causing extradural thecal sac indentation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on symptoms: This is a description of a bulging disc on MRI. There is nothing about such a finding that requires any treatment. It's a common finding even in people with no symptoms. If the person has back pain without weakness of the legs/feet, then physical therapy is best. Surgery for back pain does not help most cases of back pain in the long run, and can result in complications.
