Depends on injury: If you are a candidate, nsaids like Ibuprofen should be first choice. If you are having nerve pain, then neuromodulators like Gabapentin can be helpful. Many people prescribe muscle relaxers, but whether they help is up to the patient. Its more important to keep moving then relaxing muscles. Avoid starting narcotics. Interventional techniques from trigger points to epidurals can be of benefit.
