Quickly: Light dressing is applied with no splint to encourage range of motion. Use of the thumb assures a better result as tendon gliding is important to healing and avoiding adhesions. Sutures removed at 10-14 days but able to use thumb normally well before that. Maximum range of motion and edema reduction may take up to 4 -6 weeks.
