No: Hypertension is not a risk factor for glaucoma. Risk factors for glaucoma include family history, non-white race, diabetes, history of trauma to the eye, use of chronic steroids and age. Certain glaucomas have specific risk factors such as farsightedness in angle-closure glaucoma, nearsightedness in pigmentary glaucoma and scandanavian ancestry in pseudoexfoliation glaucoma.
