How useful is the hyperbaric oxygen therapy in elderly patients with diabetes?

For certain causes: Hyperbaric o2 does not necessarily help an elderly person with diabetes per se. There has to be a reason for its use and one in mind is the presence of decubitus ulcers or legs ulcers which is usually due to anaerobic bacteria which grow due to poor blood flow.

Agree w Dr. : Del rosario. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (hbot) has very specific uses. Being elderly or having diabetes are not indications for use of hbot. However, a person who is elderly or diabetic may have a medical issue that could be addressed with hbot.

Hyperbaric oxygen: There is no evidence that hyperbaric oxygen treatment can improve limb health unless there is a more specific indication to use this treatment. There are 13 indications for hyperbaric oxygen treatments approved for payment by medicare.
