More anesthesia: Usually if during operation and anesthesia lightens, then anesthesiologist would increase medication or inhaled gas to put patient back into deeper sleep. Usually patient does not completely awaken, but goes from deeper sleep to lighter sleep.

Rarely happens: Awakening during anesthesia, happens very rarely (less than 1 in a thousand times.) when it does, usually you just hear voices. even more rarely pain is involved. If muscle relaxants are not used, you may move. move of the time, if you start to get too "light", your heart rate and blood pressure start to rise and they just give you some more medicine to go back down.
