See gynecologist: Dyspareunia is pain when having sex. There are a number of causes. A dry vaginal wall in post menopausal women, an infection or inflammation, too vigorous intercourse, tension regarding sexual activity are some. You are talking about something going on for four years, so there may a psychological cause. This needs professional evaluation.
