Muscle tension: The temporalis muscle attaches to the skull on either side of the head. Sometimes tension or spasms of those muscle can generate throbbing pain on the sides of the head. An evaluation would help differentiate that from other possibilities.

Migraine: Sounds like a migraine type of headache. Throbbing headaches typically have a vascular origin, but can also happen with tension type headaches as well. I notice that you're taking meds for hypertension and if not well controlled, this can also lead to headaches. Make sure you're taking your meds and checking your bp. Try ice packs or migraine formula otc meds.
