Once you place the: eye drop, part of it drains into passages in your eyelids. It naturally reaches your nose and then drains into your throat and stomach. That's why you can sometimes taste the drop after placing it on your eye. The amounts ingested from the prescribed dosing would not be a concern. Placing your finger over the tear duct after you put the drop will minimize the amount draining into your nose.
