Withdrawal symptoms: You may develop symptoms of withdrawal such as restlessness, irritability. Your physician should gradually reduce the dose to prevent withdrawal.

Should not be done: Transdermal fentanyl patches are engineered to deliver a specific dose per unit of time. The size of the patch and the adhesives/compounds in the patch must remain intact. Cutting the patch may result in too little being administered or possibly a fatal overdose.
