A member asked:

Could food preservatives influence arteriosclerosis/atherosclerosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I don't think so: The risk factors for atherosclerosis -- cigarette smoking, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, lack of exercise -- are painfully obvious. I've looked at 'pop' claims that food preservatives are a big risk factor, and they seem artfully worded to frighten you and to lack any real science. Today's processed foods are often both greasy ; fun to eat and this promotes obesity and puts you at some risk.
