Staining: Some mouth rinses contain chemicals such as chlorhexidine, which although have excellent antibacterial properties , can cause staining of the tooth structure, usually along the interface between tooth and gum (as this is the area where most people miss with their brushing technique) because they have been found to be able to bind to hard tissue like enamel and need to be polished off.
