Protection: The rest of your body has nerves to protect itself. What would happen if you put your hand over a flame and you had no nerves to tell you to remove it fast? Nerves in your teeth let you know something is hot, cold or that you have some internal problem such as a cavity, crack, etc. Without nerves, your teeth might just rot away without you knowing it.
