Pain is relative: So it is difficult to say. We use a basic 1-10 scale for pain, but my 5/10 may be significantly different than yours. Because of this, substantial pain is pain is unbearable pain for each specific individual. On something so relative and subjective, substantial pain is an individual experience. Sorry i cannot offer more, but i hope this helps.
