Occur mostly in men: Most commonly occur as result of trauma or infection. Trauma:- from instrumentation medical or self induced, straddle injuries cause bulbar strictures, pelvic fractures can cause rupture or strictures in upper urethra. Infections, especially gonorrhea are notorious for causing them. Treatment can can vary from simple urethral dilatation, cystoscopic urethrotomy to 1 or 2 stage surgical procedures.
