A member asked:

Can you tell me about the risks of having a intrathecal pain pump?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Intrathecal pump : Intrathecal therapy risks may be related to implantation, drug filling, drug side effects and chronic placement within the subarachnoid space. Implant risks may include bleeding, infection, nerve/spinal cord injury, etc. Drug refills may be associated with misplacement & toxicity/overdose. Chronic placement can lead to granuloma formation at the catheter tip resulting neurological deficits.
