A member asked:

Could bell's palsy cause death or can a minor stroke be mistaken as bell's palsy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Two questions: Bell's palsy is a localized inflammation of the facial nerve and does not cause death, but a minor brainstem stroke could cause a focal facial paresis appearing similar to bell's in part at least. One can easily be distinguished from the other, by an experienced neurologist.
