Need a simple explaination for this. what happens to your body when you go under general anesthesia?

Nothing Brain asleep: The mind is asleep and unaware. The body is unchanged, working as it normally would. The anesthesia provider is there to monitor you and intervene if any adjustments need to be made.

In a nutshell...: 1.) Your eyes close and you lose consciousness. 2) Your respirations become shallow and irregular. 3) Skeletal muscles relax 4) You become insensitive pain, and that is why surgery can then be performed.

Brain waves: Your brain waves ( EEG ) will change and it depends what level of general anesthesia . The deeper the level the more changes. Your blood pressure and pulse may get lower. Your breathing will slow down then stop at some point if muscle relaxant is used. That is why you must have assisted venilation by the anesthesiologist. That why your vital signs, oxygen saturation must be monitored continuosly.
