Can you tell me about balloon valvotomy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Procedure for valves: Balloon valvotomy is a minimally invasive procedure to reduce obstruction caused by a narrowed heart valve. It is most commonly used for the mitral valve and for the aortic valve. In the case of mitral stenosis, in the right patient it can be curative with excellent long-term results. However for aortic stenosis, it is generally considered a palliative procedure, with results lasting months.
