A member asked:

What are the causes irritable bowel and bladder- same nerve. how long do these bladder spasms go on for and what brings relief?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Assumption incorrect: The innervation of the bowel and bladder via sympathetic, parasympathetic and otherwise somatic nerves are distinctly different, and involve a multitude of nerves and plexuses, not a single nerve. Hence, assuming there is a 'cause' of irritable bowel and/or bladder from a nerve is incorrect.
