Better to strengthen: Orthoinfo.Aaos.Org/pdfs/rehab_knee_6.Pdf download this and do these stretches and exercises, it will help improve knee strength and flexibility. Good luck. See another doctor if you need help.

Reminder only: A little neoprene and plastic cannot hold you up if you misbehave. It reminds you to not overexert, shortens the range of motion a bit, aids with warmth and compression and that is about it. Would have to be more like a cast to prevent injury. If knee issues, should see orthopedist sooner than later, as any repair needed is easier before your "next" injury.
