Generally safe: Raw honey takes advantage of the fact that honey is naturally antibacterial. Most honey degrades by crystallization rather than decompostion or mold formation. Raw honey is a source of carbohydrate calories so it is equivalent in many ways to sugar although natural food afficionados prefer it as a sweetener rather than processed sugar.

May reduce heart dz: According to a study in the journal of medicinal food, eating honey may have a positive effect on risk factors for heart disease. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties. But it's high in fructose, and eating too much can lead to weight gain, allergies, pancreatic cancer and diabetes. It's a superfood, so a little goes a long way. Don't give to babies!
