A member asked:

What are the side affects from taking benzonate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Benzonatate: The side effects can be confusion, headache, sedation, itching rash, stomach upset, nausea, constipation, chest numbness, burning eyes, nasal congestion, and severe allergic reacions. But most people can take it without a problem. The biggest concern is that masking a cough delays investigation of serious causes of cough such as cancer. Don't take it for more than 1-2 weeks without seeing an md.
